The Kenya International Sports Film Festival (KISFF) – the first and only sports film festival in Africa – will take place from Thursday 22nd November to Sunday 25th November in Nairobi. At close of submissions on Saturday, October 20th , 2018, a total of 1323 films from all over the world had been submitted. The jurors were judging from 191 entries that made the initial selection, and only the best will make the final cut.

All the submitted films will be professionally judged by carefully selected independent judges who have a combined wealth of experience in the local and global film industry. The judges will make their decisions according to various specifically assigned categories, and finalists will be awarded prizes.

KISFF will host leading Kenyan sports personalities of international stature as well as film professionals and enthusiasts. The Festival’s opening ceremony will be held on the 22nd November 2018 at the National Museum of Kenya, Nairobi, Louis Leakey Auditorium. This will be the venue for both Plenary Session discussions and Film Screenings. The culmination of this historic and memorable event will be via an invite -only Awards Ceremony at Aspire Centre on the 25th November, 2018.

Plenary Sessions will be comprised of esteemed and distinguished individuals, who will fully engage in the discussions and suggest solutions that can be implemented, as well as chart a positive course forward for Sports in Kenya. The panel discussions will tackle a wide range of topics; from doping and drug use in sports to a professional sports person’s life and life after sports.

Luminaries such as Aasif Karim, Sammy Lui, Leonard Mambo Mbotela, Dr. Abbas Gullet, Dr. Auma Obama, Edward Rombo, Njoki Muhoho, Sharad Rao and Sam Mwai will grace the panel discussions and add valuable input to these very engaging and interactive forums.

KISFF, which is to be an annual event, is the brainchild of Safinaz Foundation and Alpha Sports Ltd. Safinaz is a Kenyan registered charity dedicated to promoting sports in Kenya. Alpha Sports Ltd, is the publisher of Kenya’s oldest and longest-running sports magazine – Sports Monthly Magazine – which has been in circulation for the past 18 years.

KISFF – whose brand ambassadors are athletics’ legends, Rose Tata Muya and Douglas Wakiihuri – has partnered with Kenya Red Cross Society, the French Embassy, Telkom Kenya, Occidental Insurance, Renault, Aristocrats Insurance, Kenya Film Commission, Switch TV, Talanta Institute, Kenya Actors’ Guild, Fly Tristar Services, Nike Kenya, National Museums of Kenya and the European Union to bring Africa this creative endeavour whose motto is pursuing passion for sports through film.
